⛔️Dangerous Fat and How to Get Rid of It⛔️

Last week I shared a simple test you can do at home to see if you have too much dangerous fat (https://youtu.be/dV3IJcjQB_8) and today I’m going to talk to you about what this dangerous fat is and how you can get rid of it.

So what is it?

Dangerous fat is otherwise known as visceral fat or hidden fat which is stored deep inside the belly and is wrapped around your organs including the liver and intestines. It makes your belly stick out and produces chemicals and hormones that can be toxic to the body and carries a range of health risks.

So What causes it?

In a nutshell - too many calories and too little activity. However, It’s also genetic 🙋‍♀️. And unfortunately for us women after menopause our fat increases and we are more likely to carry more dangerous fat.

What are the health risks?

Having high visceral fat is a sign of “metabolic syndrome” which is a collection of disorders that include high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol and insulin resistance. Together these increase the risk of a stroke, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.😬

How can you reduce dangerous fat?

The good news is this is reversible. 🙌🙌 but you need to act now 👍.

By doing the below you can reduce your visceral fat in the space of a month. 😮

* 30mins of exercise every day that gets you out of breath
* Strength training
* Eating a healthy diet and cut out the white stuff, sugary drinks and treats
* Stop smoking
* Get enough sleep

Hope this helps but for any major concerns always seek help from your GP first 👍

🙌WINNING WEDNESDAY🙌

It absolutely has to go to our oldest member of the Epic Squad, our very own 71yr old Lester.

Not only is he the reason why some of the squad achieved their first 10km last Sunday but he also went on to run it in 65mins 😮. What an absolute legend and inspiration to us all.

Well done Lester and keep making us all proud 🙌

5 Battle Rope Benefits 💪💪

When I get these ropes out, I hear a deep sigh from my clients 🤣🤣 so today I thought I’d share 5 benefits which might just change your mind about them.💪

1. Huge fat burner. According to research you can burn up to 10 calories a minute 😮

2. A total body workout. You might think it’s just an upper body workout but when you add squats and lunges into it, you are working two areas at the same time.

3. Great for those who have injuries and need to keep the impact down. If you can’t do Impact work, these ropes will get your heart rate up without using any high impact moves.

4. Variety - workouts can become quite boring so adding in a battle ropes session will help to keep your workouts fresh and exciting.

5. Really simple to use. Therefore this makes them easy for any level.

Most gyms have them but if you’d like to try a high fat burning rope session, send me a message.

LET’S TALK FAT!!!!! 😬
(A MUST READ - grab a cuppa)

I weigh myself every Sunday or Monday morning and check my weight and fat %. I also weigh in during the week to notice any fluctuations which do happen a lot. 🤷‍♀️

Here’s the thing I am more interested in losing fat as fat is the thing that fundamentally will kill you 🤷‍♀️ (sorry to be blunt). And more importantly where you store your fat.

Like my Mum I store my fat mainly around my middle which is the worst place to store it. It’s not the fat you see around your legs and hips that will cause health problems it’s the fat (visceral fat) that is around your organs and if you have more belly fat, your visceral fat is likely to be high.

You see Visceral fat is linked to:

* Heart disease
* Type 2 diabetes
* High blood pressure
* Abnormal cholesterol
* Breathing problems

Research also associates belly fat with an increased risk of premature death regardless of overall weight 😬. In fact, some studies have found that even when women were considered a normal weight based on standard body mass index (BMI) measurements, a large waistline increased the risk of dying of cardiovascular disease.

And to give you an example, my Mum has always been stick thin. Over the years as she’s got older she’s started to put a little weight on around her middle. Nowhere else just her middle. Late last year she was diagnosed as pre diabetic 😮 .

Now I knew this was reversible as it was type II diabetes so she has had to completely change what she eats, educate herself on certain foods and the sugar contents and also add in more exercise.

Good news!!, she’s slowly been losing 1/2-1lb a week and is now out of the pre diabetic category. All done by changing her diet and adding in more exercise 🙌. So no meds for her. Well done Mum!!

If you are curious about your different fat stores you can buy smart scales or simply do the test below👇🏻.

And The good news is visceral fat can easily be reduced with the right type of diet and exercise. Next week I’ll Share with you what those are 👍
